Meet carefully. Pay directly.
A few clear steps can make a private-party transaction safer. AutoScout does not handle the vehicle payment.
Product policy · Please review with qualified counsel
Before you meet
Keep communication on AutoScout when practical, and report suspicious messages. Arrange a test drive or inspection in a public place. Bring another person if that feels safer, verify the other party’s identity in person, and do not share passwords, verification codes, bank details, or identity documents in chat.
Do not disclose your home address publicly. Meeting location details should only be shared by the people in that conversation who have explicitly consented to share them. If a request feels pressured or unusual, pause and report it.
Payment, title & condition
Inspect the vehicle independently and arrange payment directly with the other party. AutoScout does not collect vehicle payments or provide escrow. Be cautious of deposits, gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency, payment links, or pressure to move a transaction off-platform.
Confirm title and vehicle history with the appropriate sources, verify funds through your own financial institution, and complete required documents and handoff directly. An accepted offer or scheduled appointment is not proof that a sale has been completed. AutoScout does not guarantee vehicle condition, title, or report accuracy.
Report a concern
Use the marketplace report controls for listings or users that concern you. Include the relevant listing and a concise description; do not put sensitive identity or financial details in a report unless specifically needed. Reports may be reviewed by the team to investigate safety issues.
